Red & Roses

A red and pink combination works well with my South Asian outfits.  So, I went out and tried it with my dress, and I absolutely love it.  What do you think?

Valentines is just around the corner!! Are you planning this year, or waiting for a surprise from your significant other?  The lines up at bakery & chocolate shops will be around the corner.  Last year Prairie Girl Cupcakes packed special cupcakes with balloons for all valentine’s day orders.  Godiva offered special chocolate packages.  Flower shops will be filled (or emptied out by the end of day) with gorgeous and fresh bouquets.  Restaurants will have special menus for valentines.  Love will be in the air!!

Some people don’t think valentine’s day is a big deal, and some people think it’s the biggest day to declare your love.  I think it’s a great excuse to dress up, spend quality time together, and express your gratitude and love.  It’s a darling time!! So, here’s a lovely outfit for love day!!

I hope your day is filled with loads of flowers, treats and love!!

The Happy Secret To Better Work

We believe we should work hard in order to be happy, but could we be thinking about things backwards? – Shawn Anchor

  • Write down 3 new things you’re grateful for for 21 days in a row, three new things each day.

Zipper Details

I love a classic perfectly fitted dress.  I saw this dress at Banana Republic (Surprise!! I think 90% of my wardrobe is from Banana Republic), and I couldn’t resist it.  The color is perfect for fall & winter vibes, but the long zipper in the back is the main reason for this purchase.  It definitely spices up the dress.  I usually pair this dress with a cream/gold beaded necklace, and patterned stockings.  You can add a pair of booties/boots for winter, but I wore these gold shoes to tie in the whole outfit.

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind

It’s a new year, and this year I’ve decided to work on making both my body and mind Healthy! I plan on accomplishing my goal with the following tips:

1. Eating Healthy: Each grocery store is designed in a very similar way. Check it out the next time you go!! Fruits, vegetables, poultry, dairy & baked goods are all around the edges.  All those delicious chocolate bars, fizzy pop, salty chips, etc. are in the middle aisles. My goal is to only buy items around the edges – the fresh items, and avoid the chips and cookies (that are always calling my name!).  Walk around the edges, pick up the fresh food, and walk out.  Efficient and healthy grocery shopping done!!

2. Meal Prep: My goal is to have more home cooked meals and less restaurant food. In order to have a balanced diet, I am trying to incorporate servings of vegetables, protein, fruits and some carbohydrates. This article is quite helpful when deciding on meals.

3. Make a list: Going grocery shopping? Remember your grocery list!! You’ve figured out the grocery store route, planned your meals, and now it’s time to buy only the required items. This will not only save you money, but also help avoid buying unnecessary junk food items.

4. Exercise: Incorporate a workout 2-3 times a week into your schedule. This can include going to the gym, running outside, playing sports, swimming, yoga, etc. Pick your favorite and make it happen!!

5. Relax: We live extremely busy lives.  We’re either trying to meet deadlines at work, attending fun events, or completing house chores.  Take half an hour each day to relax.  Whether it’s by watching your favorite TV show, reading a book, meditating, or going for a short walk.

Making 2018 Sparkle!!

New year, new beginnings!! Did you make a new year’s resolution this year? I didn’t! I made a little promise to myself to improve on anything I wanted to improve. Here’s to 2018, and I’m starting with getting things done!!

I have a million ideas running through my head, and then I’ll pick up my phone to either message someone or research something. Instead, I end up catching up on my Whatsapp messages or spending hours on Instagram.  And there we go, I’ve lost the idea and totally forgot the reason for picking up my phone.

In 2018, I’m trying the following ways to avoid intentional/unintentional procrastination:

1. Lights, Camera, Action: Write down (old school, I know! You can type it up!) your goal, and the ACTION required to accomplish the goal. Main focus is the ACTION.  What steps do you need to take in order to achieve your goal? How do you get started? What’s the first step you need to take?

2. Get On With It: Determine the first step, and actually get started. I’ve read this quote “just get started” in so many places.  I wanted to start my blogging journey many many many years ago, but I always “couldn’t find the right time…”.  All I had to do was get started, and just go with the flow. So one day, I posted a picture on Instagram, drafted a website, and here I am today sharing my passion for fashion and photography!!

3. Distraction, who?!: Figure out your distraction and eliminate it.  Turn off the TV, put your phone far away and concentrate on your task. It may be tough at first, but you will accomplish your task with efficiency and excellence.  I always put my phone at a walking distance when I am trying to accomplish my tasks.  This helps me stay focused, and the phone is too far to reach.

4. Details, Details, Details: Be specific about your steps.  Instead of “I will write a blog post today!”, turn it into “I will write a blog post today at 9 AM about Accomplishing Tasks and post it by noon.”  The more details you add to your tasks, the easier it will be to accomplish them.

5. Magical Moment: Are you a morning person? Or do you work best after lunch? (All I can think about is food!) Or do you work best at night when the rest of the world is dreaming? What is your magical time? Work during those hours to get the right results!!

Leave me a comment and let me know your tricks for accomplishing your goals!!

Cheers to 2018 and making this year sparkle even more than the previous!!

Wishing you a wonderful 2018!! Happy New Year!!
